Your story about growing up poor and how it contributed to who you are really resonated with me! I feel like all of my "tech skills" and ability to problem-solve directly come from the many years I spent torrenting The Sims 4 and other games. Now I'm trying to become a game developer myself!
(Also your website is soooo beautiful!)

Awww! Thank you so much Emily! It's always reassuring to know I wasn't alone in this, and I'm genuinely so happy you shared. I hope you get to live out being a Game dev! I'd love to see what you put out one day. <3

I read your story about scarcity and savouring videogames, and it was really nice. Your website is also delightfully retro and fun to explore. I hope you have a great day!

I love love LOVE your blog! Reading through it is giving me flashbacks to my childhood.
Your love letter to Pokemon gave me the biggest blast of nostalgia for PokemonElite2000! I used to get sprites to recolor from there lol!
You have an awesome writing style! Thank you and congratulations on your super cool website!

i like how each of your blog posts has a different look to it, but they all feel very 90s
Replied on: June 24, 2025 at 3:28:54 AM
Aww, thank you! I've been trying a different design on each page to fit what I'm writing about, and yeah it's very 90s leaning XD

I love your blog! Your perspective is always really interesting and insightful, and I always enjoy reading your latest posts. This place just feels so cozy, while also being nuanced and thought-provoking. I really like how much you value authentic experiences and connection, those are the stuff that make life great (at least for me). Thank you for your writing!
One question—have you ever considered adding an RSS feed to your site? That way, we'd be able to receive notifications using an RSS reader. Or, maybe there already is one for this site, and I just didn't notice...
Replied on: June 20, 2025 at 6:32:50 AM
Aw, thank you so much! I'm so thankful and glad that you enjoy the site.
And as for the RSS feed, yes I do! It's just on the innerspiral.lol/blog page, which in hindsight, is better placed on the main page xD Thank you, I'll probably be fixing that in a bit as well. Thanks again, and I'm so glad you're enjoying my work <3

Hi ! This website has been a fantastic place to go and read to wind down for the night. I think some things that have been bothering me about gaming's recent obsession with the 'backlog' kind've clicked in my head as I was reading your "The Shape of a Quiet Life."
Your reflective, insightful writing and creative style is helping me think through things I've wanted the right place to think through - not just about silly internet trends of course. Thank you

Hi there, Owlere!
And aww, the fact the site’s become part of your wind-down ritual is the sweetest compliment.
and yeah, that whole backlog anxiety, thing, i get that go much. I'm glad the article sparked the same ‘aha’ moment for you as it did for me, which makes the oversharing totally worth it. xD
thanks for leaving your message! You're more than welcome to stick around~ 😊

Hey ! I've been smiling the whole time while reading "We Can’t Rewatch Our Way Out of This". I had these kind of ideas in my mind for a long time and reading someone who put them into written form does create a positive echo. I like that this blog reminds me of the old internet where corporations didn't own everything, including our attention.
I think it only highlights how much humans need to also find resonance with things and other humans that this genuine need for connection cannot be made through an algorithmic or robotic means. To say it in more common parlance : we want to vibe.
In any case, thank you ! I'm definitely vibing with this blog

oh my gosh, thank you!
seriously, knowing the piece echoed stuff that’s been rattling around in your head is exactly why I lob my rambly lil thoughts into the void.
I’m with you on the corporations, kindly step away from my eyeballs.
and yeah, algorithms can recommend a hundred shows I’ll never watch, but they can’t replicate that electric little click when two brains go “oh, you feel that too?”, right?
so thank you for vibing here haha, swing back anytime~

Thank you so much for the work that you do here! In a time where the online world is mostly empty, bereft of humanity and feeling, where we drown on slop and algorithm induced brain rot, your website and your writing reminds me of better times, when the internet was a place for community, connection, and most importantly, FUN!

Oh wow, thank you!! It’s exactly why I keep pouring my weird little thoughts into this site. I wanted to recapture that, and also not be apart of yet another scroll-and-doom fest lol! Knowing it brings back that sense of fun (and spares you some algorithmic brain rot) is the best gift. I hope you keep dropping by with your thoughts! I’m all ears!

i saw your dreamcast y2k futurism piece on critical distance and i really liked it, and i like what you're doing with this whole website, it feels as if you're fighting back against the whole dead internet, capitalist sterile web with this haven of personal art and activity.

This genuinely means a lot, thank you! And yeah… I guess this whole site kinda is my pushback, huh? XD Just trying to make a space that feels alive, you know? So it means the world when someone sees that and likes it. You’re always welcome here! ^_^

I think your pokemon thing in the banner of your posts is so cool! It made me add it to my own site!
I was introduced to your site from your post here and oh man it really exemplifies how fun it is to see other people sites, see cool stuff, and implement it in your own!

Ahh that made me smile so hard! thank you! The lil Pokémon raising Web clickers was my own tiny tribute to when personal sites felt like sticker-covered lunchboxes. I love that you added it to yours too, it feels like passing around glitter pens in class. Honestly, that’s the best part of this whole web revival thing, seeing someone’s idea, getting inspired, and remixing it into your own little corner. I’m so glad you found me through that post, and also I love your website! And thank you for adding me to your links! ^_^

I had forgotten about Toonami Aftermath until reading your recent blog post. Also, I just tried setting up a few devices to stream it from the available m3u8 playlists for watching without bringing up their website. Possible! I hope to catch Ed, Edd, n Eddie and Courage the Cowardly Dog sometimes!
Looking forward to reading your next post!
Replied on: May 5, 2025 at 11:51:19 PM
That makes me so happy to hear! Toonami Aftermath feels like stumbling on a lost relic in a digital attic, right? I love that you went and set up your own stream too! Ed, Edd n Eddy and Courage and Dexter and that whole early 2000s CN scene is like comfort food for my brain, so I fully get it. Next post’s brewing already, might have a few more deep dives or dumb memories waiting for you haha! Thanks for commenting!

I really enjoy the feature to listen to music that goes along with each blog post. I think I may borrow that idea for blog posts too. By the time I've finished reading one of your blog post, I feel very relaxed.
Replied on: April 23, 2025 at 2:33:54 AM
Thank you! I'm glad it does, I've been trying to make the audio pair well with whatever I'm talking about, but also keep it relaxing enough so it's not overwhelming. And please, go ahead and take the idea! The code is there to see if you'd like to know how it all works too.

I played flash games growing up, but I never went as far as you did, the most I did was playing hacked versions of them if I thought the game was too hard
also towards the end of its life I saw bunch of polished flash games using mobile game monetization tactics, it was pretty sad
Replied on: April 23, 2025 at 2:37:35 AM
Ohh I remember the hacked versions of some games! And yeah, you could see that microtransaction/monetisation model type of game be applied to, or made from the ground up for some games towards the end. It really was a sad end, but luckily sites like the hacked ones you mentioned tried to crack that kind of model open, so it wasn't articificially stretched for money or anything like that. So there's still a silver lining there.Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Love it, miss Flash games too
April 18, 2025 at 3:42:07 AM
My daughter's heavily into Scratch (a kinda drag-and-drop programming language for kids), and watching her browse the site and check out the memes etc was the first time in a long time I'd felt like the Flash spirit was still alive, albeit in the kids. Grown-ups need it too.
But where the hell is your RSS feed! I wanna add you to my reader!
Replied on: April 18, 2025 at 1:53:59 PM
That’s so good to hear honestly, it gives me hope that the chaotic, creative energy is still out there, through the young'uns. And you’re so right, grown-ups need it just as much. (And haha! the RSS feed is on my /blog page! Thank you for wanting to add it, that honestly makes my day.)
